The
LPM Low Pressure Casting machine with a Crucible Furnace
In this low pressure casting machine, the 4+4 column vertical press houses in its lower part a
steel welded structure enclosing an electric, crucible-type holding furnace.
A proportional pressurization control on the crucible furnace affects the
movement of the aluminum from the furnace to the dies during the low
pressure casting process.
Working temperature is obtained by
means of a series of heating elements that are fixed on 6 removable plates
that embrace the outer structure of the crucible.
This system allows
the furnace to maintain the working temperature even when only 5 elements
are working, allowing the on-stream production to end. Using this
method of mounting the elements through the wall of the furnace,
the necessity to slide out the crucible when a faulty element requires
replacement is eliminated.

The crucible furnace is mounted on a trolley allowing it to slide out frontally for
ease of maintenance and crucible replacement.
A hoisting system driven by a
hydraulic motor operates two screw jacks guided by four columns that allow
lifting the furnace (up to 250 mm) to move it into its working position
below the low pressure casting machine.
